Anyone needs a good break from time to time 🏖️ and our members of NDS are no exception. But, holidays without clear guidelines create confusion for members of any organization. Here are ours effective from the 2024-2025 winter break🎄

- The history of NDS holiday policy
</aside>
- The Ministry of Science and ICT 🔬🔭🧪🧫🧬⚗️ recommends all professors in UNIST provide students in their labs with a week (= 5 working days) of holiday (paid or unpaid) during each break – two weeks (= 10 working days) per year for student’s welfare and happiness.
- NDS follows 👆🏼this and provide a week of paid holiday per break.
- 👉🏼 This does not mean that you’re required to come to the studio every weekday throughout the year. As a student, you do not need to report and get permission to take a day off as staff or doctoral students with altered military service do → This has always been the case. 🙂
- As an example, if you have no meeting scheduled and/or there is little or no work to be done on a Monday or Friday, you can naturally have a long weekend without discussing it with the director any time of the year. Take a day or two off if/when you need to. Just make sure your project teammates are aware. 😉
- To make it possible for everyone to schedule their holidays, we set our holidays to be the same period for everyone 🗓️ – the last week of each winter/summer break according to the official UNIST academic calendar.
- For instance, according to the official UNIST academic calendar, the last week of the 2024 academic year’s winter break falls on the week of 24–28 February.
- This 👆🏼 can be altered, in which case (a) the plan shall be shared in advance with the project team members first and (b) then with the director before the summer/winter break starts.
- Those who are required to use the UNIST Portal (i.e., staff, students with altered military service, and the director) strive to do the same.
- If you are taking a longer holiday than a week per summer/winter break share your plan with the professor before the summer/winter break starts. Your stipend for that month shall be adjusted accordingly.
